When you go to the grocery store to buy avocados, you probably aren’t expecting them to be any bigger than your fist.

But a woman in Hawaii recently found an avocado that was 5 POUNDS and way bigger than an avocado you would find at the store.

Pamela Wang was on a walk to get her newspaper this past Sunday when she spotted it on the ground.

She told West Hawaii Today, “I see avocados every day, and I pick up avocados every day, but this one…it was hard to miss.  It was as big as my head.”

She also mentioned that she found the avocado underneath a tree which hangs over a street.  Any over hanging fruit on the street or fruit that falls outside private property can be claimed by anyone.

Wang told her friends what she found and they contacted Guinness World Records.  She is waiting to hear back from them to see if the 5-pound avocado she came across is the world’s largest.

The one on record right now is 4 pounds and 13.2 ounces which was sent in by Gabriel Ramirez Nahim from Caracas, Venezuela.  But that was submitted in 2009 so maybe it’s time for that record to be broken.

Can you imagine how much guacamole a 5-pound avocado would make?!
